Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Mullappally Ramachandran has accused Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan of having information about the political killings that took place in the Malabar region, including Kannur, during the last 50 years.
Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Mr. Ramachandran wanted Mr. Vijayan to end his silence on the political murders in the State. Drawing a comparison between the Pinarayi Vijayan-Kodiyeri Balakrishnan duo of the CPI(M) and the Narendra Modi-Amit Shah leadership of the BJP, the Congress leader said the CPI(M) leaders were Stalinist in their approach.
Mr. Vijayan should condemn political murders and come out with a statement that his party would not any further get engaged in political violence.
The police should nab the real assailants, he demanded. The families of the slain Youth Congress workers would be provided ₹10 lakh each on Wednesday.
They would be provided further assistance of ₹15 lakh each, which would be collected by begging from the streets of Kasaragod on March 2.
The former Union Minister said there were similarities in the manner in which the murders of T.P. Chandrasekharan, Shuhaib and that of the two young activists were executed, he said.
The only achievement of the Pinarayi government during the 1,000 days in office was 29 political murders, he added.
