Five of family killed as truck rams into car on highway

Kanpur: Five members of a family were killed in a road mishap at Kanpur-Sagar national highway in Ghatampur area of the district on late Monday night when a speeding truck rammed into a stationary car killing all its occupants.
Among those killed include the family members of a West Bengal IPS officer Arvind Kumar Anand. The accident was so severe that the car turned into a mangled heap. Police had to use gas cutters to take out the bodies trapped inside the badly damaged vehicle.
Police identified the deceased as IPS officer's father Dinesh Rajjak, mother Rajni, sister and two other people, including the car driver.
All of them were returning from Bareilly after attending a marriage ceremony. They were heading towards their native place Chhatarpur in Madhya Pradesh.
The police were in the process of dispatching the bodies to mortuary for postmortem examination. SSP, Anant Deo, said, "We have informed IPS officer Arvind Kumar Anand about the incident, and investigating the cause which led to the mishap claiming lives of five people".
