The Justice Arumughaswamy Commission has adjourned proceedings scheduled for Tuesday after Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam sought yet another deferment of his deposition.

Mr. Panneerselvam was summoned to appear before the Commission on Tuesday and answer various questions related to late Jayalalithaa’s hospitalisation and treatment. This is the sixth time Mr. Panneerselvam’s deposition has been adjourned. While he had asked for adjournment twice, the Commission postponed it thrice, with Sasikala’s lawyer Raja Senthoor Pandian asking for an adjournment once.

Counsel for Mr. Panneerselvam filed an application before the Commission on Monday seeking an adjournment as he had some official work. Doctors at Apollo, the former Health Secretary J. Radhakrishnan and Health Minister C. Vijayabaskar have testified before the Commission that Mr. Panneerselvam was aware of the treatment giving to Jayalalithaa at Apollo Hospitals.

While he has sought a postponement citing official work, It is highly likely that Mr. Panneerselvam has sought the adjournment as BJP president Amit Shah and election in-charge Piyush Goyal are expected to finalise the seats sharing pact on Tuesday.
