Geeta, 40, said in her police complaint, “I was in my room with my two daughters, and my sister-in-law, Poonam, was upstairs. Around 8.15pm, I heard someone calling my husband’s name. Thinking that his friends had come to meet him, I replied he was not at home.”
Suddenly, three masked men entered her house. “All three were armed with sharp-edged weapons. They barged into my room and at knife-point asked us to keep mum. Scared, my children did not speak a word. On hearing my cries, my sister-in-law rushed downstairs. After holding us captive, the goons robbed us of our gold chains and rings,” she added.
The trio then ransacked her almirah. “When I tried to stop them and raised the alarm, they attacked me with a sharp-edged weapon and escaped,” Geeta said.
She then called up her husband and the police.
Division 6 police station ASI Balbir Singh said, “It seems the accused were known to the family. We are scrutinising the footage of CCTV cameras installed in the area.”
A case has been registered under sections 392 (punishment for robbery) and 34 (act done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the IPC.
