Too much information can be jarring sometimes, feels Delhi Metro commuters.

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has been getting passenger feedback that the audio announcements on board trains on the Magenta Line (Janakpuri West-Botanical Garden) are repetitive and a tad annoying.

Based on the feedback, DMRC has decided to axe the number of announcements by 80%, and the corporation may regulate announcements on the Pink Line (Majlis Park-Shiv Vihar) as well.

Currently, 34 announcements are made during a train's journey on the Magenta Line in both audio and video formats.

"In the trial period, only seven general announcements will be made inside the train in both audio and video format during the entire travel time," an official said.

Out of the 34 announcements, 25 announcements are made only in video format i.e, there will be no audio announcements for them.

"The video announcements are the ones like welcome to Delhi Metro, Use smart cards, deposit tokens etc.," official said.

"Rest of the two announcements on ladies coach and its directions etc. will be removed from the train, but will be made on the platform at the stations," he said.

Delhi Metro makes regular announcements inside its trains to inform passengers about departure and arrival related announcements which are considered mandatory.

There are other announcements also, which are made when the train is on travelling mode to inform paasengers about various issues related to them.
