Sesa FA and Dempo SC registered hard-fought wins in their respective matches of GFA’s U-16 League which were played at Poriat ground, Calangute and Don Bosco Oratory ground in Panaji respectively, on Monday.

While Sesa FA got the better of Goa United SA 1-0, Dempo SC prevailed over Sporting Clube de Goa with an identical margin.

Hardly any chances created in the first 40 minute as the teams walked into the breather playing a drab draw.

Sesa FA weren’t at their best, but their prolific striker Aryan Salunke justified his reputation with an 18-yard strike that crashed into the far corner of the net, 1-0. The score remained 1-0 till the final whistle.

Meanwhile in Panjim, in a battle between the two city clubs, Dempo SC walked away with three points. Both the teams started the match on attacking format. Dempo missed chance to score through Shreyash Naik when he fed by Dwayne Neto. Sporting Clube too had their chances through Joseph De Souza but his shot was well saved by Dempo goalkeeper. There was no score at
the break.

After break Dempo missed two clear chances. First from a corner kick and then Vieri Colaco’s shot was brilliantly saved by Sporting goalkeeper. Soon coach Remus Gomes made double substitutions bringing on Sheldon  Fernandes and Shameek Vas and the duo combined together for the only goal of the game.

Shameek Vas dribbled two defenders of Sporting and passed to Sheldon Fernandes and he didn’t do any mistake in scoring the winning goal for Dempo SC in the second half additional time.
