Cape Town - Cape Town City coach Benni McCarthy believes the club are capable of claiming R15 million in prize money this season by winning the Nedbank Cup.

City have already won the MTN8 trophy under McCarthy's guidance and could complete a brace if they are able to secure the Nedbank.

The Citizens are into the quarter-finals of the competition having clinically dispatched Highlands Park 3-0 to advance to the next round.

If the club were to go all the way in the tournament, they'd earn R7 million which could be added to the R8 million they won in the MTN8.

He told reporters: "There's a cup, it's two more games and then you find yourself in the final, so the short term about it, we suffered the disappointment of last week's loss, but now, you win here and then you've got two more game.

"And then you can get a chance of lifting another cup and putting R7 million in your pocket, so that is R15 million for the year that the players have put in the pocket of the club.

"So that is something remarkable, I don't know any other coach who started his career like this. Even, if you have the opportunity at the big three or four, none of them. It is remarkable that with the players that I have, we can achieve these goals."
