“Starting with the Galaxy A series, we might start seeing more Samsung phones without the 3.5mm jack”
Samsung’s smartphone portfolio is witnessing a renaissance of sorts, with the company planning to double down on the affordable segment with the new budget Galaxy M series and the revamped Galaxy A 2019 series that is expected to debut soon in the coming weeks. Now, there was a massive leak last week that revealed the entire specifications of the Galaxy A50, Galaxy A30, and Galaxy A10, but a new report sheds light on the build and design of the mid-range device. These images have allegedly been extracted from a user manual, so they should be pretty accurate and reliable.
As reported by Droid Shout, a key aspect of the Galaxy A50 is the Infinity-U notch on the front. We have seen an Infinity-V notch on the Galaxy M10 and Galaxy M20 lately, but this could be Samsung’s first notch with a U shape. While this reduces the top bezels, the bottom bezels usually isn’t as thin. Another big reveal is the absence of a 3.5mm headphone jack which will be replaced by a USB Type-C port doing double duty as a charging port. While Galaxy A8s was the first Samsung phone to drop the audio jack, it seems Galaxy A50 will be the first such model in the international market.
Continuing further, the latter is shown with an on-screen fingerprint reader, likely to be the optical type. The report also states that the handset will have triple cameras which isn’t a surprise since even the Galaxy M30 is getting it.
Samsung has previously confirmed at least one Galaxy A phone will be official in March – it might just end up being the A50 since the support page for the smartphone has gone live in India. The support page doesn’t reveal much and only mentions the model number SM- A505F/DS, where the DS stands for Dual SIM.
As for specifications, the Galaxy A50 will rock a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display, an Exynos 9610 (10nm) CPU, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. In terms of camera, reports tip a 25MP primary sensor, 8MP ultrawide sensor, and a 5MP depth sensor on the back while a 25MP selfie shooter is expected to grace the U-shaped notch of the device. The battery is said to be 4,000mAh capacity cell with 15W fast charge.
