HYDERABAD: TRS working president KT Rama Rao on Sunday donated Rs 50 lakh for the bereaved families of the CRPF jawans killed in the terror strike at Pulwama.
While KTR donated Rs 25 lakh from his pocket, another Rs 25 lakh was donated by his friends. The cheque was handed over to CRPF southern sector IG GHP Raju at the CRPF southern headquarters in the city.
KTR made the donation in the wake of the blast in Kashmir’s Pulwama on February 14.“I extend my heartfelt condolences to the families of the martyrs. The jawans will always remain in our hearts,” he said. He also wished speedy recovery for the CRPF jawans who were injured in the car bomb blast.
“We live in a large democracy which feels safe today primarily because of the men in uniform,” KTR said.
Deputy mayor Baba Fasiuddin donated 4 months of his salary to the Martyrs Fund. Fasiuddin visited CRPF southern headquarters, paid floral tributes to the CRPF martyrs and handed over Rs 1,00,000 to the IG.
In South Africa as well, members of the Indian community paid homage to the martyrs under the leadership of Nagaraju Gurrala of TRS South Africa. An interfaith peace prayer was held at Dreamhill International School.
