Tamil Nadu governor urges Saraswati school to follow APJ Abdul Kalam’s ideals

NAGPUR: Congratulating Saraswati Vidyalaya for maintaining high standards of education for 125 years that produced many a stalwart, Tamil Nadu governor Banwarilal Purohit on Saturday made an appeal to follow the ideals of former President APJ Abdul Kalam to continue its forward march.
Purohit had a word of praise for South Indian Education Society (SIES) and Saraswati Vidyalaya Alumni Association (SVAA) for bringing together so many people connected to the school for celebrations. He said thousands of former students, including chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, have earned name and fame as their talent was groomed by the school.
Earlier, SIES president TK Venkatesh delivered the welcome speech. Vice-president TG Janakiraman, Durairajan, Dr A Natarajan Iyer, Dr R Sundaram, S Jayaraman, principal Prabhuraman and SVAA president Dr Anup Marar were seated on the dais.
In his address, SC Dharmadhikari, judge of the Bombay high court, recounted his days in the school and memories associated with it. He said he was proud of the progress made by the school all these years.
Green Saraswati project was launched under which the school will promote solar panels for electricity generation. ‘My stamp’, specially designed by the postal department, was presented to the dignitaries. A unique ‘shagun’ was presented to Purohit by Jagtar Singh Sethi and Dr Anup Marar.
Durairajan proposed a vote of thanks.
SVAA Alumni Nite ‘Gata Rahe Mera Dil’, a musical feast by SVians for SVians, was the star attraction which was inaugurated by Dharmadhikari. More than 2,000 SVians from across the globe participated in the historic event.
SVAA president commendation medals were presented by dignitaries to selected 30 SVians who had worked hard for the growth of SVAA.
Prabhuraman and Dharmadhikari guided those present at the alumni nite.
