‘Allow us to avenge our soldiers’ deaths’
TNN | Feb 18, 2019, 07:01 ISTLudhiana: City residents are still brimming with anger in the wake of the Pulwama terror attack. On Sunday, the kin of Shaheed Sukhdev Thapar held a protest against Pakistan outside the ancestral home of the martyr and also burnt effigies of Pakistan Army Chief Qamar Javed Bajwa, terrorists Azhar Masood and Hafiz Sayeed. The protestors also shouted slogans against cabinet minster Navjot Singh Sidhu for his controversial statement against the Pulwama attack.
Giving more information about the protest, Ashok Thapar, nephew of Shaheed Sukhdev Thapar and president of the Shaheed Sukhdev Thapar Memorial Trust said, “We strongly condemn the cowardly act on our armed forces at Pulwama by terrorists conducted at the behest of Pakistan’s ISI and army chief. By executing such a terror attack, Pakistan has openly challenged India and we request the Centre to allow the citizens of India to take the revenge for this mischief and open the border for 24 hours so that we teach them a lesson.”
Thapar also added, “Enough is enough and government should give free hand to our armed forces to act against terrorists and those harbouring them. The solution of this problem is not possible without taking such a step as our Army and paramilitary forces are capable of handling any situation provided they are not bound in any restrictions.”
According to Sandeep Thapar, another nephew of Shaheed Sukhdev, “Along with eliminating masterminds of terror attacks Azhar Masood and Hafiz Sayeed, our government should adopt a strict policy against the separatist leaders of Kashmir who living on our soil and eating our resources spew venom against us and help the terrorists. Withdrawing their security is not enough as they should be jailed or deported to Pakistan.”
