A controlled burn on Llantysilio Mountain sparked fears that a fresh wildfire could again damage the area.
Worried members of the public made repeated calls to the fire service today after seeing flames coming from the Denbighshire mountain top.
It comes after a huge blaze decimated the mountain this summer.
But when arriving at the scene today, the fire service found that a controlled burn, taking place near the 13th century Valle Crucis Abbey, was being carried out by a farmer.

The fire service had to take to social media due to the volume of calls they were receiving about the fire.
On Twitter, they said: "We are aware of the smoke plume in the Llantysilio area and an officer will be investigating.

"Avoid repeat calls please. Thank you for your assistance."
A spokesman later confirmed they had investigated and found no issues.

They said: "We dispatched an officer to a controlled burn at Llantysilio mountain this afternoon to liaise with the farmer undertaking the burn as we had received repeated calls from members of the public.
"We left the scene happy the fire was under control."

Concerns from members of the public come after a huge blaze raged for more than a month in the summer.
Last year, farmers raised concerns that combustion loads on the mountain had been allowed to grow because graziers were prevented from carrying out traditional controlled burning of the area’s heather and gorse.

The fire put a huge strain on North Wales Fire and Rescue Service costing them £290,000 in extra resources.
Natural Resources Wales also warned that it could take decades for wildlife on the mountain to recover following the massive blaze.
