Three Rohingya arrested in Lumding

GUWAHATI: Three suspected Rohingya Muslims were arrested by government railway police (GRP) sleuths on Sunday from Lumding railway junction, some 215 km from here. Earlier on February 10, eight Rohingya refugees, including six women, were arrested from Krishnapur area of Cachar district.
Superintendent of Railway Police HK Das said, "The trio has been identified as Samshu Alam (51), Sabbir Ahmed (64) and Shamsu Alam (32). They have confessed that they are from Myanmar. A case has been registered against them under Foreigners' Act for not having valid documents to travel in the country."
Sources added that the three were seen suspiciously moving around near the station by a group of locals.
