Security forces and terrorists engaged in a gunfight in the Pinglan area here of Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday morning.
Four army personnel including a major, and a civilian have lost their lives in the encounter. The operation is currently going on.
A top Jaish-e-Mohammed commander linked to the Pulwama attack is believed to be trapped in the ongoing encounter with security forces in Pulwama.
One person is critically injured and has been rushed to a hospital. They belong to 55 Rashtriya Rifles.
The encounter site is just around 10 km away from the spot where 40 CRPF jawans were killed in a suicide attack on Thursday, last week.
According to the latest information, two to three terrorists are trapped in the area. An army officer identified the slain soldiers as Major VS Dhoundiyal, Havaldar Sheo Ram, Sepoy Ajay Kumar, and Sepoy Hari Singh.
"The critically injured army man has been identified as Sepoy Gulzar Mohd who has been evacuated to army's 92 base hospital Badamibagh Srinagar for treatment," he said.
According to reports, Pakistan violated ceasefire in Poonch sector on Sunday night.
Meanwhile, the cross-LoC bus service from Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir to Rawalakot (Pakistan-occupied Kashmir) has been suspended for today.
