In between, he cemented his reputation as a fierce defender of editorial integrity over commercial interests. Among his achievements were the creation of Automotive News Europe, the Automotive News Data Center and the Automotive News PACE Awards program, now in its 25th year.
His career also included reporting and editing stints at the Ann Arbor News and Detroit Free Press. He will be inducted at a ceremony in East Lansing, Mich., on April 14.
Brown joins two former Automotive News colleagues in the Michigan Journalism Hall of Fame: Keith Crain (2008), editor-in-chief; and the late John K. Teahen Jr. (2006), longtime managing editor and senior editor.
