The Delhi government on Sunday reacted to a letter written by Union Minister of State for Urban Development Hardeep Singh Puri to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal regarding unauthorised colonies by saying that the contents of the letter were factually misleading, incorrect and imaginary.
Mr. Puri in his letter said that the whole process of regularising unauthorised colonies in Delhi was stalled due to the “apathy and inaction” of the AAP government. “The Centre is keen to regularise all unauthorised colonies in Delhi which are covered under the regulations, but the whole process is stalled due to the apathy and inaction on the part of your government to finalise the boundaries after survey of these colonies,” Mr. Puri told Mr. Kejriwal in his letter.
“It is a well known fact that the Central government does not like the existence of unauthorised colonies in Delhi and has been opposed to their regularisation. The Chief Minister will be sending a detailed response rebutting all false allegations made in the letter, this week,” said the government in a statement.
It added that despite stiff opposition from the Central government, for the first time in the history of the national capital, the Delhi government has currently undertaken massive developmental works in these colonies.
“Delhi government is of the clear view that residents of these colonies who have been deprived of basic facilities since decades, have a right to lead their lives with dignity,” it said in a statement.
It added that it will stiffly oppose all conspiracies of the Central government and vested interests to deprive the unauthorised colonies of development.
