10-yr-old girl raped several times by neighbour in Delhi

Representative imageNEW DELHI: A 10-year-old girl was raped by her neighbour in east Delhi’s New Ashok Nagar. The accused, who works with a private firm, allegedly drugged the girl and took her to his room where he raped her and then threatened her against disclosing the incident to anyone.
DCP (east) Jasmeet Singh said the 28-year-old accused has been arrested for rape, criminal intimidation, poisoning and under the POCSO Act.
The incident was reported to police on Sunday by the girl’s mother. During inquiry, it was found that the girl was being sexually assaulted by the accused for the past one month.
The accused lives in a nearby apartment and was known to the child’s parents and would often visit their home. The child told counsellors that a month ago, the accused took her to his room and gave a sedative-laced drink after which she lost consciousness. He then raped her and later threatened her that if she told anyone, he would kill her parents. The girl got scared and did not disclose the crime.
She later told cops that during this period, the accused assaulted her multiple times in the absence of her parents. The girl’s health deteriorated on Sunday, following which she broke down and told her mother.
The girl’s mother made a PCR call, following which she was taken to a nearby hospital where doctors confirmed sexual assault. Subsequently, the accused was arrested.
