Portal to open on Tuesday; selection via computerised draw

The Delhi government has issued guidelines for admissions under the EWS/Freeship category from Class II onwards against available seats in private unaided recognised schools in the city. The government said that this time, applications for these seats will be made online and selection will be made by computerised draw of lots against available seats.

The portal for filling forms online will open on February 19 and the last date for application is March 4. The date of first computerised draw of lots is March 15.

The government said that any person residing in the city, having the residence proof of Delhi and requisite income certificate (less than ₹1 lakh annually) issued by the Revenue Department of GNCT of Delhi, BPL/AAY (ration card/food security cardholder) is eligible to apply.

Earlier, the private unaided recognised schools running on land allotted by the DDA/other government agencies had been following the manual procedure for EWS admission to the extent of 20% in the fresh admission from Class II onwards.

However, the government has decided to fill these vacancies through computerised draw of lots after inviting online applications from this year onwards.

Monitoring cell

The government said that a monitoring cell has been constituted in each district to redress the queries and grievances pertaining to online application of EWS/Freeship category admission and to ensure admission of successful candidates selected through computerised draw of lots in accordance with instructions and guidelines issued by the Directorate of Education.
