Lamborghini has been talking about hybrid technology for quite awhile and it appears we’ll see their first production hybrid at the Frankfurt Motor Show this fall.

In an interview with Motoring, Lamborghini’s Chief Commercial Officer revealed the company is working on an new model which is internally known as the LB48H. Federico Foschini didn’t say much about the car, but confirmed it will be a limited edition in the same vein as the Centenario, Reventon and Veneno.

Production will be limited to 63 units, which is reportedly a nod to the company’s creation in 1963. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to buy one as all of the units have already been spoken for.

While Foschini didn’t say much about the car, it will reportedly feature a number of cues from the Terzo Millennio concept. There’s no word on which styling features will carry over, but the concept had an aggressive front fascia with slender LED lighting units.

One thing that won’t be borrowed from the Terzo Millennio is the concept’s electric powertrain. Instead, the LB48H is slated to have a hybrid powertrain that combines an electric motor with the company’s familiar 6.5-liter V12 engine.

The electric motor is slated to power the front wheels, while the V12 will motivate the ones out back. This setup will give the model all-wheel drive as well as a significant amount of power. There’s no word on specifications at this point, but previous rumors have suggested the car will have a combined output of 838 hp (625 kW / 850 PS).

Besides talking about the upcoming special edition, Foschini confirmed it will be shown alongside another “surprise” in Frankfurt. He declined to elaborate, but the publication believes the mystery model is the Urus plug-in hybrid.

Foschini also dropped some hints about the Aventador successor as he indicated the model might not arrive until after 2020. He also suggested the car’s plug-in hybrid powertrain will allow for an electric-only range of between 18.6-31 miles (30-50 km).
