Man booked for poisoning wife

PATIALA: Sadar Patiala police have booked a man and his family members for allegedly giving poison to a woman, a year after her marriage.
The accused have been booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including dowry demand, harassment and attempt to murder.

The case was filed on the complaint of the woman, who is undergoing treatment at a government hospital. The victim said that she got married to Gurmel Singh, a resident of Patiala, in April 2017.

"We have registered the case against the accused, who as of now are on the run. We are hopeful of nabbing them soon. The husband of the woman works as a driver. The couple does not have any children. Earlier, the couple had landed in a dispute, but the matter was resolved soon.

"The accused man and his family allegedly administered poison to the woman in their house. The family of the victim has said that despite meeting the dowry demands of the accused, they continued demanding more demanding more and for that they used to harass the victim," said investigating officer of the case.
