The body of a 26-year-old man was found in Ullwas on Monday morning. The deceased, identified as Bindeshwar, suffered a major head injury and had strangulation marks, police said.
Originally from Gopalpur in Bihar, Bindeshwar worked as a labourer in the city and lived in the slums in Ulalwas. The police recovered a belt, an empty bottle of alcohol and a large stone near the body. Cops suspect a case of murder, committed by a person known to the victim.
“Prima facie it appears that the man had a few drinks with his friends and there was an argument between them. The accused tried to strangulate the man with the belt and then hit him on the head with the stone,” said inspector Satbir Singh, SHO at Sector 65 police station.
The FIR was registered under sections 302 (murder) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) at Sector 65 police station.
The deceased’s family was informed about the death and they are expected to reach Gurgaon on Tuesday, police said, adding that a post-mortem will be conducted after their arrival.
