In a first, B-52 long range strategic bombers of the U.S. Air Force will fly over Yelahanka Air Force station during Aero India later this week.
“During the inaugural air show on February 20, a fly-by will be performed by B-52 Stratofortress bombers assigned to the 23rd expeditionary bomb squadron from Andersen Air Force Base, Guam,” the U.S. Embassy said in a statement. The iconic bomber that entered service in the 1950s has an unrefuelled combat range of over 14,000 km and can fly at an altitude of 50,000 feet.
The 12th edition of the biennial Aero India is scheduled in Bengaluru from February 20 to 24.
With 28 companies participating in the show, the U.S. is bringing its largest delegation. “Defence acquisitions are an important component in deepening our bilateral ties and contributing to a balanced trade relationship,” said U.S. Ambassador Kenneth I. Juster.
