Al-Ameen Mission to set up centre of excellence in New Town

Urban development minister and Kolkata mayor Firhad Hakim lays the foundation stone of the institute on Sunday. KOLKATA: The Al-Ameen Mission Trust's new centre of excellence will be coming up at New Town. The foundation stone of the new institute, 'Al-Ameen Mission Institute for Education, Research and Training' was laid by urban development minister and Kolkata mayor Firhad Hakim on Sunday. Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation mayor Sabyasachi Dutta, Barasat MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar and others were present at the occasion.
It was announced that Rs 50 lakh from the MPLAD fund of MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar will be sanctioned for this centre of excellence.
The new institute will provide training facilities for medical post graduate students and will have a residential training centre for IIT, IIM and of various competitive exams like WBCS, IAS, IPS, CLAT, MAT and UPSC. There will also be training facilities for teachers and teaching staff.
Minister and Kolkata mayor Firhad Hakim said many established students have come out from Al-Ameen Mission that has made everybody feel proud and inspired the students.
Bidhannagar mayor Sabyasachi Dutta said that after St Xaviers, Ramakrishna Mission, Presidency University and Aliah University, New Town has got another feather in the cap with Al-Ameen Mission to set up the new institute.
A total of 42 ex-students of Al-Ameen Mission, who have now become established in their respective fields, were felicitated on the occasion.
It was in 1986 that Al-Ameen Mission started its journey with seven residential students and now there are over 17,000 residential students along with another 20,000 ex-students.
