Man kidnapped in Chennai

CHENNAI: A group of men kidnapped a 35-year-old man from a bus stop at Nungambakkam here on Sunday night. The kidnapped man has been identified as Raj of Kadaperi, who is into the business of buying and supplying debris of demolished buildings.
On Sunday night, Raj and his associates, Saravanan, Sugumar and Manoharan, were sitting at a bus stop at Nungambakkam when sport utility vehicle (SUV) stopped in front of them. The men in the SUV asked Raj to go to the vehicle as their ‘Anna’ wanted to have a word with him.
As he went near the car, he was pulled into the vehicle. The SUV sped away with him. Later his cellphone was switched off.
Based on a complaint filed by Saravanan, the Choolaimedu police registered a case. Saravanan said Raj had some injuries on his body when he met him on Sunday morning. The SUV had a party flag, he told the police.
Raj is married and has two children.
