West Bengal: Trinamool councillor shot at in party office

KOLKATA: Mithun Tikadar, a Trinamool councillor of Budge Budge municipality was shot at from a close range inside party office on Monday night. Trinamool leaders blamed BJP for the attack, but BJP leader Rahul Sinha refuted the charge. Tikadar, a councillor of ward 20 was attacked inside his ward while he was sitting on a chair.
He was admitted to a city hospital. As he was bleeding profusely so he was taken to operation theatre.
Gautam Dasgupta, vice president of Budge Budge municipality who ferried Tikadar to hospital said Tikadar was in a critical condition. Witnesses said two youths entered the party office and fired at him from a close range. The bullets hit his chest and abdomen police said and the attackers even hurled bombs before fleeing.
Police are probing if Tikadar knew the attackers as he named two of them. Police are probing his antecedents.
