Man caught gambling in Issa Nagri

The police have arrested a man for gambling in the city. The accused has been identified as Pawan Kumar of Shimlapuri. Investigating officer Dharamjeet Singh said on Friday that a police party on patrolling duty received a tip-off that the accused was gambling near Issa Nagri. The cops raided the spot and nabbed Pawan. The cops also recovered Rs 510 from him. The Division No. 2 police have registered a case under sections 13-A, 3 and 67 of the Gambling Act.
1 held for illegal liquor trade

The Division No. 2 police have arrested a person for selling liquor illegally in the city. The accused has been identified as Pintu Puri of Giaspura. Cop Santok Singh said on Friday they were on a patrol when they were informed that the accused was coming towards Issa Nagri. The cops intercepted Pintu and recovered 11 boxes containing liquor bottles from him. Police have arrested Pintu and registered a case against him under Sections 61, 1 and 14 of the Excise Act.

3 arrested with 150g cannabis

Jodhewal police have arrested three persons and seized 150g cannabis they were bringing into the town. The accused have been identified as Sanjay Khanna, Pawan Kumar and Surinder Rani — all of Noorwala Road. Investigating officer Mahinderpal said a case has been registered against all the three accused under sections 20, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act.
