My Kitchen Rules is one of the most controversial reality shows on Australian TV.
But on Sunday, the series reached outrageous new heights after one participant was mistaken for a 'transvestite.'
The shocking faux pas took place during frenemies Pat and Bianca's instant restaurant.

While the pair were in the kitchen, the discussion at the table turned to everybody's first impressions of statuesque socialite Karolina Borkovic, who stands six-feet tall in heels.
'You're a very tall woman, you're extraordinarily tall,' remarked Lisa.

A transvestite is defined as a person, usually a man, who enjoys dressing up in clothes associated with the other sex.
It's different to transgender, which is a person whose gender identity doesn't align with their birth sex.
Lyn immediately looked remorseful for the comment, admitting that she had 'put [her] foot in her mouth.'
'I did not mean to upset her, or to hurt her,' the 60-year-old said in a piece to camera.

Lyn was quick to apologise, but Karolina made it clear that she wasn't ready to forgive.
'You did point out something that I'm really sensitive about,' Karolina said sternly.
'You friggin' hurt my feelings!' she snapped.
Overcome by guilt, a distraught Lyn then got up and left the table.
She was then seen sobbing alone in another room while her MKR teammate Sal stayed back to try and reason with Karolina.

'Lyn's not like that at all,' he explained. 'She didn't mean anything to hurt you. She's only upset now because she's hurt you, and she's not that type of person at all.'
'It hurt my core,' said Karolina. 'I have two beautiful sisters and we're all very tall. Our stature is not particularly gentle, our personalities are not particularly gentle, but we are far from being transvestites.'
'She has apologised,' continued Sal. 'She meant it from the heart.'

When Karolina continued to refuse the apology, Sal left the table to go and comfort Lyn.
Lyn eventually composed herself and returned to the table with Sal, and the rest of the evening proceeded smoothly.
Frenemies Pat and Bianca ended up scoring a 91 for their restaurant, putting them in second place on the leaderboard.
