Finance Minister Arun Jaitley is scheduled to address the customary post-Budget meeting of the central board of the Reserve Bank on Monday. He would highlight the key points of the interim Budget, including the fiscal consolidation roadmap. The meeting is also expected to take a call on the interim dividend to be paid to the government during the current fiscal. The government expects Rs 28,000 crore from the RBI as interim dividend for 2018-19, based on the financial position of the central bank.
The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) has called a meeting of the chairpersons of boards of all insurance companies on February 18. The meeting will be chaired by IRDAI Chairman Subhash Chandra Khuntia. It has been reported that invitations for the meeting have been sent exclusively to all chairpersons of the boards of insurance companies.
BSE Ltd, the country’s oldest exchange, is set to launch the cotton derivatives contract on Monday, with a lot size of 25 bales, making it the second product in the exchange’s agri-commodity derivatives segment. BSE, in association with the apex cotton trade body Cotton Association of India (CAI), is also offering a waiver in transaction charges for the initial year.
Debt-ridden Jaypee Infratech’s lenders are to meet on February 18 to discuss the resolution plans submitted by four short-listed bidders, to take over the realty firm and complete stalled projects. According to reports, members of the CoC, comprising financial creditors and representatives of home buyers, will discuss all the proposals that were submitted by Friday (February 15).
The International Court of Justice (ICJ) will hold public hearings in the Kulbhushan Jadhav case from Monday at The Hague, during which India and Pakistan will present their arguments before the top UN court, which was set up after World War II to resolve international disputes. Jadhav, 48, was sentenced to death by a Pakistani military court on charges of espionage and terrorism in April 2017. India moved the ICJ in May the same year against the verdict. A 10-member bench of the ICJ on May 18, 2017 had restrained Pakistan from executing Jadhav till adjudication of the case.
