Nagpur: Many students are worried that the ongoing road, Metro and flyover construction work in the city may cause problems on their way to the forthcoming board exam centres. Nagpur traffic police has pitched in to help them.
The Nagpur police has decided to give right of way to students commuting to their board exams centres. A directive from DCP traffic has been sent to all police officials that in case of a traffic jam, students heading towards their exam centres must be helped out first. The board exams for CBSE have already started while the main papers will kick off from the first week of March.

Raj Roushan Tilak, DCP traffic said that safety of students is the department’s top priority. “There is a lot of construction work going on in Nagpur. This leads to traffic congestion in certain places and students heading to their board exam centres need all the help they can get,” said Tilak.

The directive sent by Tilak to his officers clearly says that priority must be given to students who are stuck in any sort of traffic jam. It adds that police officials will help the students move out of such jams and safely make their way towards their exam centre. Tilak has also written to his subordinates that they should check the exam centres in their respective zones and also see the route. The DCP’s directives goes a step further and urges his officers to ensure that students reach their centres without any major trouble.

He also suggests some pre-emptive steps to parents. “When I was a student and appearing for the board exams, I would always visit the centre a day before. This gives you a very good idea on the present road condition and the time it takes to reach from your home to centre. Then, the next day you can plan your departure time accordingly and avoid getting stuck in traffic,” said Tilak.

Principals association has also appealed to students to make it a point to reach at least 1 hour before exam. The Nagpur Divisional Board office also said that they have told students to reach an hour early.
