Recently converted Sikh boy in legal battle over religious symbol in Pakistan

AMRITSAR : After being denied to wear kirpan, one of the five religious symbols of Sikh faith, a recently converted Sikh student have moved a petition in Sindh, Pakistan, high court against alleged discrimination in practicing his religion.
While talking to TOI over phone from Karachi on Sunday, Quetta , Balauchistan, born Avinash Sandoria who rechristened himself as Avinash Singh after embracing Sikhism six months back informed that management of Iqra University , Karachi, where he was undergoing BBA has denied him to enter the university campus wearing kirpan.
He said he was fascinated with teachings of Sikh religion and baptism and decided to convert to Sikhism and wear turban but he didn’t know that he would be discriminated while practicing the religion.
Son of a businessmen Nanak Chand Sandoria, Avinash said he was the only one in his family who had embraced Sikhsim.
Karachi based senior high court advocate and Chairman of Sri Guru Nanak Sat Sangh Sabha Hira Singh said that being a baptised Sikh, Avinash was bound to wear five Sikh religious articles as ordered by Sikh’s tenth master Guru Gobind Singh.
He said the constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan in article 20 and 25 fully authorised minorities to practice their faith as they liked and no private or government body could impose any kind of ban upon them adding that there was no concept of religious discrimination in any of the educational institution in Pakistan.
He said the Sabha had also written a letter to the vice chancellor of the university but the management had not given consent to accommodate religious symbol of Avinash Singh forcing them to take the legal course.
Meanwhile, continuing to spew venom against Indian , ISI supported Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee’s general secretary Gopal Singh Chawla in a a message on social media has announced to continue their fight against India and in support of Khalistan.
