LUCKNOW: The unseasonal rain, storm, hail and lightning on February 14-15 caused 26 human casualties, besides loss of livestock and crops in the state. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday announced an ex gratia of Rs 4 lakh to families of the deceased and directed district magistrates to assess crop damage and identify farmers eligible for financial aid.
The CM has sought a list of affected families by Sunday. "He has asked the DMs to ensure that compensation is issued within 24 hours," said an official. DMs have been directed to assess crop loss in their areas. The CM said the survey needs to be completed by Monday and farmers who lost 33% or more of their crop in rain and hailstorm will be entitled to compensation under agriculture investment grant.
