After a dastardly attack on CRPF personnel at Pulwama in Kashmir, Mumbaikars staged peaceful protests and marches on roads on Saturday.
People gathered in small numbers at VP, Azad Maidan and LT Marg and offered their respect, not causing any trouble to traffic, informed police officials. Shopkeepers shut shops at Bhuleshwar, Kalbadevi and Trombay,
Musafirkhana for few hours as a mark of respect to the martyrs and to comdemn the attack.
Later in the day, members of a political party burnt down Pakistan flags at Nana Chowk in Tardeo. They tried to do the same outside Jinnah House at Malabar Hill, but were stopped by the police. “Around 10:30 am at Parksite and Ghatkopar, 50-100 local residents carried out peaceful rallies. Similar protests were carried out at Navghar, Mulund and Bhandup areas,” said an officer.
In western suburbs, residents carried out protest outside Bandra station (West), Andheri, Meghwaadi, Jogeshwari, Saki Naka.
