Karol Bagh hotel owner arrested after fire that claimed lives of 17 guests

NEW DELHI: Delhi Police crime branch has arrested, Rakesh Goel, owner of the Karol Bagh hotel in which 17 people were killed during a fire last Tuesday.
DCP Rajesh Deo said that the crime branch had received an information about Goel travelling from Qatar by Indigo flight and alerted the immigration officials. "Since a look out notice had already been issues, he was detained and handed over to the crime branch," said DCP Deo.
Goel was arrested after a brief questioning. He will be produced in the court and cops would further seek a police remand to expedite the investigations.
The hotel was named after Goel's son Arpit and the property was registered in his elder brother Shardendu's name. Cops are also looking for Shardendu.
