Bhopal: In a cabinet meeting held at Jabalpur on Saturday it was decided to launch women helpline facility which would be working round the clock. A toll free number 181 will be available to assist women in emergency. The cabinet also decided to fill up 27 posts of women helpline through outsourcing.
The women helpline would be linked to mobile and landline networks. It would provide round the clock assistance to women. The women would be given information about emergency services and other schemes. The women helpline would also be linked to other helplines and one-stop centre.
Presently, 1090 helpline is available for women assistance during emergency. The state government had launched this toll-free-number following the Nirbhaya gang-rape incident in Delhi. The cabinet also gave its approval on proposed amendments in Municipality 2012 Act for the setting up of mobile towers in urban areas.
Following the amendment, collector has been authorised to grant permission for the setting up of mobile tower. So far, the state government used to give permission for it. Now the proposal for mobile tower would be forwarded to the state government after permission from local level.
The cabinet permitted constituting directorate of information technology and its cadre, centre of excellence project e-mission was also permitted. In the meeting, approval on 1634 posts for the offices of Chief Electoral Officer, district election and returning officer, was also given. At the beginning of the meeting, tribute to CRPF Jawaans, who laid down their lives in Pulwama were given tributes.
