Anti-Pak slogans rend the air at Bhadrak rally
TNN | Feb 17, 2019, 23:06 ISTBalasore: Anti-Pakistan sentiments ran high at a public meeting addressed by home minister Rajnanth Singh at Ranital on the outskirts of Bhadrak town on Sunday.
People raised slogans against Pakistan while Rajnath arrived at the stage to deliver his address. The public and BJP workers in the crowd slammed the neighbouring country for the terror attack.
“We want the killing of our soldiers be avenged. Those behind the attack must be taught a lesson,” said Manas Das, 34, a farmer from Badsahi in Mayurbhanj district.
The crowd accused Pakistan of providing sanctuary to terrorist outfits, responsible for carrying out attacks in India. They also demanded that the government give a befitting reply to perpetrators of the Pulwama attack.
Manaswini Khuntia, president, Bhadrak distict BJP women’s wing, said the whole country wants action against Pakistan for carrying out such a barbaric act. Anti-Pakistan sentiment was palpable among the crowd throughout Rajnath’s speech. Anti-Pakistan sloganeering interrupted the home minister’s speech a number of times.
Earlier, Rajnath landed at Basudevpur and offered tribute at the martyrs pillar in Eram. After spending some time there, he visited the Goddess Bhadrakali temple, the presiding deity of the district, for a darshan before taking the stage to addressed the gathering.
