Train 18, returning from Varanasi, came to a stop near Tundla, about 200 km from Delhi; possibility of cattle run over

A day after the semi high-speed train was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Vande Bharat Express broke down in the early hours of Saturday.

The train came to a stop near Tundla, about 200 km from its destination Delhi.

The exact reason for the glitch that led to the power failure in some of the coaches is yet to be ascertained. However, a railways spokesperson said that this appears to be a disruption because of a possible cattle run over.

"The train was returning at night and cattle run over is a possibility at odd times. This is not a scheduled commercial run," she said.

The train was returning to Delhi, from Varanasi after its inaugural run. It is scheduled to start commercial operations on Sunday, February 17. The train is fully booked.

There is no clarity right now on whether this incident will impact the commercial run of the train.
