CRPF 4th battalion mourns Sahoo’s loss

Koraput: A pall of gloom has descended on the 4th battalion of CRPF stationed in Rayagada district ever since the news of deaths of men from the paramilitray force in the Pulwama attack came in.

More so because head constable Prasanna Sahoo was posted in Rayagada district for anti-Maoist operations for four years from 2013 to December 2017 before he was transferred to the 61st battalion.

“I clearly remember he was very disciplined and always wore a smile on his face. During his stint in Rayagada he had discharged his duties diligently and courageously,” said Narayan Rao, public relations officer, 4th battalion of CRPF.

Recalling the days spent with Sahoo, the officer said he was a dramatist and used to entertain his colleagues with various acts from Hindi movies at leisure. He had participated in anti-Maoist operations and was very supportive towards juniors, who were with him during counter-insurgency operations.

He was a family man and was always worried about his daughter’s education. “We have lots of good memories of Sahoo,” said Rao. Though it’s very painful as we lost 40 of our colleagues, such cowardice can’t deter us from our duties towards the country, he added. Expressing grief over the incident, around 1,200 CRPF jawans, including officers, of the 4th battalion of CRPF fasted on Friday.
