Woman Who Can’t Get A Deal On New Car Gets Free Scion From A Total Stranger

It’s not every day that you walk into a car dealership and walk away with a free car, but for Californian nursing student Kayla Cooper, that’s exactly what happened last week.

WHNT 19 News reports that Cooper was speaking with a salesman at Auto City in El Cajon, California, about purchasing a vehicle. However, she wasn’t able to agree to an acceptable down payment and ended up leaving the dealership in tears.

In stepped a kind chap named Dan Laguardia, who was at the same dealership to trade in his Scion and incidentally overheard Cooper’s conversation with the Auto City salesman. After watching her leave the facility, he asked for the salesman to call her back. When Cooper returned, he gave her the Scion he was planning to trade in.

“The car had more value to her than it did for me trading it in,” Laguardia commented.

According to Cooper, she didn’t believe the random act of kindness until Laguardia signed over the car’s title to her. Cooper had previously been borrowing cars from family and friends to get to her two jobs and the nursing school she attends and was expecting to lose one of her jobs if she couldn’t get a car before the end of February. Instead, she’s now the happy owner of a Scion given to her by a stranger.

“That gives her a bit of a jump start in life, which if everybody did that for everybody else, we’d be in a much better place,” Laguardia told local media.
