PATIALA: Nurses who have been protesting for the last nine days at the Government Rajindra Hospital on Friday blocked the main Patiala–Sangrur highway.
The Punjab Nursing and Ancillary Staff Union members have been demanding job regularisation. Only two days back, they ended their hunger strike after police officials convinced them. Out of the remaining three nurses sitting atop the hospital building, one had alighted, while the rest are still on protest.
On Friday, sub-divisional magistrate and SP themselves climbed atop the building to meet the two protesters who had threatened to jump from the building. The administration and the police have installed the net and quilts to prevent any suicide bid.
