BENGALURU: In the run-up to Aero India, police have started vetting residents living around Yelahanka Air Force Station here. They have sought Aadhaar details of residents by Saturday.

Police are carrying out the security verification at the behest of the Intelligence Bureau and state intelligence department. Officials said the intelligence personnel have sought Aadhaar details to expedite verification. In the notice issued to apartment complexes and residents of standalone houses, police have sought their names, address, contact numbers and information about their stay in Bengaluru, their residence and employment details.

DCP (northeast) Kala Krishnaswamy said they were collecting details in four police station limits. "Although instructions came a while ago, the vigil was enhanced after the Pulwama attack," a senior official said.

Residents said police haven't given them enough time to submit the details.
