Yeshwantpur railway station to have selfie points

This is part of a redevelopment project

A bridge connecting the Namma Metro station with the railway station and selfie points are among the plans announced for Yeshwantpur railway station.

On Saturday, Union Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda laid the foundation stone for the re-development of Yeshwantpur Railway Station. The SWR will spend ₹16.45 crore to upgrade the station, which will include amenities such as road, footpath, landscaping, a connecting bridge between the railway and metro stations, and selfie points.

FoB at Majestic opened

The ₹1.9 crore Foot Over Bridge (FoB) connecting Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna City Railway Station and the Metro City Railway Station has been opened to the public. The 49-metre long FoB will help passengers reach platforms of the railway station from the metro station. A counter has been provided over the FoB to facilitate booking of tickets for passengers to enter the railway platform.

Mr. Gowda said that a total of ₹2,047 crore has been sanctioned to the State for various railway projects since 2014. In the last four years, 53 new trains were introduced, 14 train services were extended, 80 road under bridges and road over bridges were constructed. The railways added 252 km of new lines and 301 km of doubling has been done, he said.
