The new technical education minister of Rajasthan holds doubts on his compatibility with the ‘system’ of government machinery. The minister Subhash Garg confessed of this while addressing a gathering at inaugural of a Skill and HR conclave at Jaipur on Friday. “I do not know if I am fit for the system or not,” said the minister while discussing upon mismanagement of resources at government departments.
The minister even confessed that the courses offered by his department too were not update to industry requirements. The minister was blatant on discussing wastage of resources due to lack of coordination between various departments and imbalances in development policies.
‘Multi-crore rupee medical equipment are lying uselessly at the government hospital in Bharatpur in absence of technicians’ and ‘RSLDC spending Rs 8 lakh per month on rent even as technical education department building lies vacant’ were sighted upon by the minister as some examples of apparent mismanagement. Garg also held a varying opinion with the current policies of development funding agencies like World Bank.
“These agencies only extend support for the development of infrastructure and not for manpower without which the infrastructure and machinery are not of much use,” Garg said.
In his unorthodox address, the minister insisted on the need for better coordination between departments for optimum utilization of available resources and for a time-bound mechanism for government clearances. He held his opinion on the ‘system’ as a concern for inclusive development and held the change a collective responsibility of legislators, officials and the public at large.
