Palanpur: There was complete pandemonium over functioning of Unjha Agriculture Marketing Committee (APMC) during the meeting of BJP members in Visnagar, Mehsana, on Saturday.
A BJP meeting to discuss election strategy was held on Saturday at SK University in Visnagar which got disrupted with in 20 minutes when about 50-odd BJP workers, believed to be supporters of former BJP MLA Narayan Patel alias Naran Lallu, raised issue of delimitation of about 24 committees including three sales and purchase committees (Kharid Vechan Samiti) from the revised election process in Unjha APMC.

Patel’s son Gaurang Patel is the present chairman of Unjha APMC.

Sources said Gaurang Patel’s name had been omitted from the revised voters’ list of Unjha APMC.

According to Haribhai Patel the former president of Sunak village Mandali which has been deregistered said, “According to new voters’ list 313 members can vote for the panel of eight directors while four will be from other miscellaneous sections including traders.”

Sources said that BJP general secretary CK Patel was interested in installing his relative Dinesh Patel as the chairman of Unjha APMC, who is also supporter of former Congress MLA from Unjha Asha Patel who recently joined BJP.

However, the Mehsana district BJP president Nitin Patel was able to pacify the agitating workers, said Haribhai Patel.
