The reason you should walk after dinner for weight loss

What do you often do after having a meal at night? Feel tempted to catch on your Netflix series, or obsessively scroll through your social feed? Well if this is you, do you remember the popular post dinner stroll, which was once considered mandatory for proper digestion. But somewhere down the line, we stopped doing it.
There is also enough evidence to prove that walking after dinner is beneficial. A research found out that walking after dinner for 15 minutes helped adults with type 2 diabetes to prevent major sugar spikes. This was said to be more effective than a 45-minute walk during the day.

The researcher DiPetro shared, “Insulin secretion in response to a meal tends to wane later in the day, and this is especially so in older people." Most of us have the largest meal of the day in the evening and sitting after that is anything but good. It can lead to spike in blood glucose levels, which can stay elevated for hours.

So what exactly does walking do? According to a research fellow at the University of Otago, New Zealand, our muscles that get engaged during walk utilise glucose for energy, reducing the amount of it circulating in the body.

Now we know that getting up after dinner and taking a 15-30 minutes stroll is very effective. Do you need any more convincing?
