Ranveer, it seems, hasn’t seen the video yet. However, Smith and Singh spent some great time together when the Hollywood star came to India last year to shoot for a special song for Karan Johar’s Student of The Year 2. The Aladdin actor, then shared a few photos with KJo and Singh and captioned them, “Learning the ropes of Bollywood from two of the best in the game! @karanjohar & @ranveersingh. 📷: @alansilfen.”
Gully Boy has been receiving an overwhelming response from film critics and audience alike. The movie on its opening day has earned Rs 19.40 crore and is expected to witness only an upward trend in the upcoming days.
In an interview with indianexpress.com, Ranveer Singh said, “I have been listening to hip-hop ever since I was a kid. I have seen the entire evolution of rap in India from Baba Sehgal and Devang Patel to now Divine, Naezy and Bantai. But I got really hooked when Zoya came to me with this film. She called me to her place and showed me first the video of “Mere Gully Mein” and my mind was blown away. It is so authentic. These guys are real Bombay boys, street guys rapping in Bambaia. It was bursting with street flavour. I was hooked instantly and now listen to only that.”
