Best dressed this week: Athiya Shetty and Deepika Padukone

How many ways are there to wear black and white? If you look to the stars for inspiration, the possibilities are endless. This week, Athiya Shetty made an appearance in a risqué half-white, half-black Self-Portrait look that made the classic colour palette look brand new, Meghan Markle gave maternity dressing a sleek spin in a crisp white shirt and body-skimming black ankle-length skirt, and Kourtney Kardashian played with ebony and ivory panels, stepping out in NYC in a glossy leather jacket that could instantly spruce up your travel wardrobe.
In stark contrast, some of Bollywood’s most-loved actors played with pretty shades of pink over the past few days and if you’re a fan of the hue, you can’t see how differently Deepika Padukone and Sonam Kapoor Ahuja worked the hue. While Padukone went the romantic route this week in a floral Gauri & Nainika creation (styled with a loose bun and chunky earrings), Kapoor Ahuja stepped out of Mumbai airport in a maroon shirt + trousers set, which she topped off with a sorbet pink jacket.
For several other stars, this week was all about showing head-to-toe white ensembles some love. Busy promoting her new film Gully Boy, Alia Bhatt gave ivory pantsuits an update with a Moschino version covered in scarlet doodles, while Karisma Kapoor attended Filmfare’s Glamour & Style Awards in a semi-sheer Tony Ward gown sprinkled with delicate little 3D blooms. Overseas, Kate Middleton accompanied Prince William to the BAFTAs in a one-shoulder gown by one of her favourite labels, Alexander McQueen, and at 2019’s Grammys, there was no missing Jennifer Lopez’s crystal-studded Ralph & Russo number, styled with a matching white wide-brimmed hat.
