‘Rivals circulating morphed pics of my group members’
TNN | Feb 16, 2019, 07:44 ISTLudhiana: Bringing a fresh twist in the run-up to Lodhi Club general body election on February 17, the group of CA Nitin Mahajan, who has been elected general secretary unopposed, has alleged that some rivals are circulating pictures of their group morphed by replacing the faces of the actual candidates with their own to spark confusion among the voters.
Mahajan along with another member of his group, Rishamjit Singh Gaba, have been elected unopposed, with the latter as the mess secretary. The group is thus being considered the most favourite and is speculated to win all the remaining eight seats.
After the morphing mix-up, the Mahajan group has released fresh pictures of the candidates and is approaching the club members individually to clarify the “mischief” of the rival group.
Meawhile, the members of the Mahajan group refused to speak on the issue citing the code of conduct of the club elections, but a source confirmed the morphing incident.
Leading industrialist and senior member of the club Harish Dua told TOI, “If something like this has happened it is really shocking as the club is like a family and people should not stoop so low just for the sake of getting elected. I think the aggrieved should come forward and file a complaint in this regard so that the mischievous elements spreading wrong information are caught.”
Another industrialist and club member Madan Goyal said, “Contestants should fight the elections in a free and fair manner because this is not an election to become a leader but only to serve the club. But the persons indulging in such acts should remember that these tricks can backfire so its my appeal to the candidates to contest these elections in a friendly way.”
