Woman kills self by consuming acid

Thiruvananthapuram: In a suspected case of suicide, a 41-year-old woman died on Friday after she allegedly consumed acid. S Deepa, daughter of Nateshan and Shyamala of Keezhathil House, Koduvazhanoor near Nagaroor is the deceased.
Nagaroor police said according to her family, Deepa, who was unmarried, had been suffering from serious mental issues for the past several years. She was under severe depression. She used to commit strange acts whenever she went into depression, her kin informed the cops.

It is suspected that she consumed acid that was used for treating rubber sheet on Thursday evening when her mother and sister-in-law went out to attend a grama sabha meeting at an adjacent temple. Her father, who was at home, later found her lying unconscious and raised an alarm. Though she was rushed to Keshavapuram community health centre and later to Medical College Hospital, she breathed her last in the early hours of Friday.
