MUMBAI: Two brothers on a visit to the city survived after falling off a moving train. Deepu Anant Roy (56), a Unani doctor from Buldhana, and his brother Samar, who were on a day-long tour to Mumbai with their third brother, were trying to get out of a fast train which was pulling out of platform 4 at Dadar around 1.50pm on Friday.
Two personnel of Railway Protection Force (RPF) pulled the brothers to safety before they could have fallen into the gap between the train and platform.
The brothers, who returned to their village at Shivaji Nagar the same night, said they were thankful to the two RPF officials-Nitesh Chavan and Sachin Mor-for "saving our lives". "As the train reached Dadar, the crowd at the platform rushed in and the two of us could not move out. As the train started to move, we panicked and jumped off," Deepu told TOI.
He said they had reached Mumbai the same morning. "After visiting tourist spots in south Mumbai, we went to Dadar. A huge crowd came pushing in and we could not get down. Soon, the train started moving. We somehow pushed through the crowd and jump out of the moving train," said Samar.
An RPF officer said the brothers were dragged along the platform. The incident was captured on CCTVs at the platform.
