Special lecture on economics held

Dharwad: Countries with different levels of development are encountering several new economic crises which need to be scientifically identified and addressed through new approaches said Prof T Krishan Kumar, retired professor and head of economic analysis unit, Indian Statistical Institute, Bengaluru.
Delivering a special lecture on Advantages and Pitfalls in Econophysics Approach to Modeling in Economics, organized by the department economics, Karnatak University on Friday, he said Eeconophysics developed based on the thermodynamics model and can be better used to address the new crisis in modern economy.
Economist G K Kadekodi highlighted the role of economists in identifying the root cause of crisis and addressing them with scientific approach. Amit Badhuri, honorary professor, CMDR Dharwad also spoke.
Department chairman R R presided over the programme and said problems of developing economies like India need to be explored and addressed through a multi-dimensional approach. N S Mugadur welcomed and introduced the chief guest.
